TM44 firmware 1.23

The change "under the hood" is significantly larger than the version number suggests. The internal timing has been completely adjusted. In principle you should not notice this, but the purpose of this is, among other things, to be able to work with more and longer DCC packets in a next step. That is not yet possible, but the current change is a precondition to get there.
For this reason, TM44 1.23 is absolutely incompatible with older versions of TM44 firmware and also absolutely incompatible with current TM-H versions.

A change that you may notice is that the drivers on the TM44 can be controlled in two ways when driving on pulse width modulation ("analog operation"): Fast Decay and Slow Decay. Without going into the technical differences, the effect is that Slow Decay shows significantly better slow-driving behavior at small scales. It is very noticeable in scale Z and reportedly also in many models in scale N. In scale H0 I can hardly detect any difference. See also this extensive thread
By default, the TM44 1.23 is in Fast Decay. The reasons are:

  • Slow Decay leads to different speed curves of analog trains and an upgrade would otherwise require you to recalibrate everything.
  • The TM-H can only operate in Fast Decay mode due to hardware limitations (including any future firmware versions of the TM-H)

You can switch the TM44 to Slow Decay through configuration using DinamoConfig. You need DinamoConfig 1.41 for that.

TM44 firmware 1.24

The way of reading in occupancy detectors has been adjusted. The method of version 1.23 turned out to very occasionally lead to false-positive detections on my demo-layout. The process is now less aggressive, reducing the chance of false positives.
