Installation of jDinamoCC2 on a 64-bit Windows system
jDinamoCC is a 32 bits Java application. It works on a 64 bit system, but the installer does not function correctly. The work-around described below is tested on Windows7 64 bit and Windows 8.1.
- First make sure the FTDI drivers for your UCCI are installed on your PC and work.
- Download the jDinamoCC2 installer and the jDinamoCC2.1 update (both) from the file galleries
- Install jDinamoCC2 using the installer. Ignore messages about FTDI drivers and Java.
- Copy the .jar file from jDinamoCC2.1 update on top of the .jar installed by the installer. It should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\jDinamoCC2\
- Check if you have a 32 bit Java installed. If that is the case you'll find a directory Java in C:\Program Files (x86) with below a subdirectory or possibly multiple subdirectories with different versions. If you have more than one, use the most recent (highest number). If you don't find a 32 bits Java, go to www.java.com and manually download the 32 bits Java. Click on something like "show all Java versions" and download and install the correct version.
- The jDinamoCC2 installer installs a number of .dll files in the wrong directory. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\jDinamoCC2\lib\windows. You'll find three .dll files: ftdxxj.dll, rxtxParallel.dll en rxtxSerial.dll. Move or copy these files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\<java-version>\bin. To be clear: Replace <java-version> by the name of the directory on your system.
- If you only have a 32 bits java installed, it will now work. If you have multiple 32 bits versions or also a 64-bit version, it does not. The reason is that the PC starts the wrong Java by default. You must correct this by modifying the shortcut to jDinamoCC2. In the field "target" you'll find "C:\Program Files (x86)\jDinamoCC2\JdinamoCC2.jar". Change this to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\<java-version>\bin\javaw.exe" -jar "C:\Program Files (x86)\jDinamoCC2\JdinamoCC2.jar"
To be clear: jDinamoCC is not a VPEB product, but made by Hans Nouwens. So VPEB cannot make changes to this program.
